Happy Birthday, Melinda Rose. 91? And still getting carded? That's pretty impressive! I got carded at the baseball game last week, I thought it was good at 50. We got hope that your next 19 years will be at least as rewarding as the last 19.

Sounds like lots of Styloses (Styli?) on the road today, all headed west, except for Dad, who is headed north. Kind of like a family version of 'rotate'. Well, let's all keep rotating until we end up at Camp Celo two weeks from today. We're all excited. Hope all is well with all...§

Cprrection: I think maybe I'm going WEST after I leave Seattle. It's a good thing I'm not flying the plane; there's no telling where we'd end up!

91!?! Have a happy birthday, Melinda, wherever you are. Traveling to NJ to see your other grandmother, I think. We will soon be traveling, too. Buddy will drop me at the Asheville airport on my way to Seattle and points east, then he'll continue north in the newly repaired love-bus. Maybe Mark and kids are in the air now, even as we (I) speak. I'm hoping for pleasant and safe traveling for all of us, so all (or most) of us can convene down here at Camp Celo in mid-July.

Happy Birthday to my lovely Melinda who is 19 years old today. She just keeps getting more wonderful every year. Can't wait to see how great she is at 91! I love you, my girl.

Happy Birthday to my favorite brother-in-law. Hope you are having a great day, with all your favorite food, drinks, people, activities and toys, in whatever order you like. I am proud to have you in the family.

And welcome home to Mom and Dad. It was wonderful to have you both in Massachusetts, and to be an only child with such doting parental affection. The hot tub was great too.

Love,

Paula

Yeah, Dave. Happy Dave's Day! And summer to boot. It is feeling like summer around here, which is not that usual for June 21. Ana is out of school and officially a fifth grader. Things all seem to be moving in the right direction. §

Yay Dave!!! Let's go out for a drink and celebrate! Meet me in, say, Chicago. Was thinking of you the other night when I was in Fitzwilly's near closing time.

Happy summer solstice to everyone.

Mom and Dad should be getting home about now, right?

Happy Birthday, Mona! I hope you don't mind having to share your special day with our Dad, with David and all the other fathers out there in Stylosville including me. It occurs to me that this is one of the few years there won't be a Saturday between yours and David's birthday to have your joint party. No pun intended. I hope everyone has a great day. We all wish we were at the Scott and Pam compound to celebrate it with you.....§

Happy Fathers Day to Mona, and Happy Birthday Dad ... or something like that! Not much to report from over here: we are just enjoying the sea, sand and sun. Plan to fly into Boston on the 29th of June, and out again on the 27th of July. Probably will do Boston the first half, and N.C. the second half, depending, of course, on what everyone else is doing.

See you there!

Just a Happy Father Day's wish to all the father's out there! I hope it is a warm sunny day and relaxing for all deserving Dad's.

To everyone else be kind to the dad's on their day, they definately deserve the day off.

Not too hot here to write. Cold and wet. I am looking forward to seeing Mom and Dad tomorrow, and then father's day, where? Someone has got to make a decision. I say if it rains we should troop up to the Scott and Pam compound. Will you have us? When should we arrive? And what shall we bring?
Paula

Had a good time visiting Mom and Dad at the Oak 'n Spruce resort last night. Seemed like a pleasant comfortable place. Took a little walk after dinner then played some poker. Just missed Athena who was there earlier.

Looks like the weather might not be too good around here on Sunday, so the Look Park idea might not work out. We can get together in Northampton or Worthington, whatever works best for people.

Scott
Friday, June 14, 2002 at 07:38:43 (PDT)
It's too hot to write here. Today's high broke the old record by more than 10 degrees. Okay, it was only 95, but we're not used to it. Even though I spent the last few days in the hot California desert. Ana and I have finalized our plans. We'll be arriving in NC (actually Greenville) early on July 13. We'll head to Boston (via Newark) on July 22nd, and head back to Seattle on July 28th. We'll be travelling standby, so our travel plans could slightly change, either by design or otherwise. Ana finishes school on Wednesday next. Looking forward to having RLS here in a few weeks, and looking forward to NC/Boston even more. Keep those postings coming...§

Thursday, June 13, 2002 at 18:04:34 (PDT)
Yes, she looked wonderful. It was of course, for me, an emotional event, so full of ties to so many things that have come before, in her schoolgirl years. One of the highlights of the ceremony was the bald eagle fly by, right after the retiring vice principal's speech about how they would each "soar like eagles"! (OK, that and the mooning one of the seniors gave the crowd!). ((((Miranda))))
mona
Sunday, June 09, 2002 at 14:20:10 (PDT)
I'm here to report that Miranda looked very 'graduate-like' in her purple cap and gown. The weather held up just fine (if you can call 50 degrees fine) and it was a fun ceremony. Off to college for Miranda.

Things are fine in Seattle. The weather is much better today. I'm going to spend the day doing yard work. Wish I had more of my family around here. Mom and Dad should be just about to Massachusetts by now. Let us know when they make it. Still planning on NC on July 12th or so. I'll keep you posted, so to speak. §

I am honored to announce that VANESSA and JEROME STYLOS are playing in an Americam movie. They are working very hard and very well. 12 hours work per day is tiring so, We will let you know more about it when this experience is over.

"THE MOVIE IS CALLED: Hairy Tale - New Movie
Seth's newest project is located in Nice, France. The feature film, "Hairy Tale", is a story about a young boy and his adventures with a chimp and Jack McCall, a man who is caring for the chimp and befriends the boy. Seth is playing the lead role of Michael Dean along with Matthew Modine as Jack McCall and Roma Downey as Megan Dean, Michael's mother. The movie is being filmed and probably set for a 2003 release.
Seth Adkins"

We love you

Ooops ... How silly of me to forget to wish the happiest to one of my favorite cousins! Andrea, we are here to love you! Be sure to visit Steven on your way to Hawaii. As I do not have an Internet connection (or fixed-line phone) at home, I do not do much surfing on my own time, so I did not even know until Monday.

Glad to have you amongst us, Tracey. I hope you do not have to pay too dearly for that open invitation ...

Well, it's quitin' time here, so until next time, see y'all around.

We are planning to come East from July 12 - 28. It's a week earlier than we originally said. We haven't decided to go to Boston before or after NC. It kind of depends on the WebMarkster.

Hey there, Tracy. Of course we remember you and Kenny. Gee, I don't know how you are going to keep all those toddlers quiet when you start having all of the those overnight (overweek? overmonth?) guest from this website. Ana (who is now 10) and I may be there this December. Probably Maui. §

I plan to be in Hawaii the first part of July. I will email you soon and let you know more about the trip (the where-abouts and the when-abouts). It would be fun to meet and have a mai-tai or something

Yes, I'm grateful for this web site, too. It does help keep the family together.

Hi everyone,

It was great to find this site, you've done such a good job.

I am Kenneth Helmar's daughter and Aprodite (Jenny's) grand-daughter. It's been a long time since I've seen some of you but I remember a lot of you from the pictures.

I live in Hawaii now with my husband Darrel and my son Dillon (20 mos). My brother Kenny also lives here with his son Alijah (2 1/2).

If you're ever in Hawaii, we'd love to hear from you.

Take care,

Tracey

Tuesday, May 21, 2002 at 08:18:41 (PDT)
hmmmm...I find that file, but no teddy bear icon, and it's within a .cab (cabinet) file, so it's not in a form I can just plain old delete it, I need to extract it first. hmmmm.

And happy 22nd birthday to our Jessamyn!

Tuesday, May 21, 2002 at 07:36:21 (PDT)
I recently sent a picture of Naki with mayor Guiliani to the webmaster of the stylos network. I receved word today that one of my correspondant's fopund a virus called jdbgmgr.exe which is not detected by McAfee or Norton, is sent automatically to everyone in your address books and takes 14 days to erase all your files. I followed the following instructions to delete the virus. (1) Go to Start, then Find, then Files and Folders (2) under named, type jdbgmgr.exe and then click Find now. (make sure u are looking in drive C) (3) if the virus appears, (the icon next to it will be a small teddy bear) and the name will be jdbgmgr.exe. (4) DO NOT OPEN IT. Just Right click on it and DELETE it. It will go to the Recycle bin. (5) after u see it disappear, go to the RECYCLE BIN and DELETE it from there as well. If at all possible, EMPTY the RECYCLE BIN uncder FILE. The virus automatically goes to your address book and sends the virus to everyone on it, so u will want to notify them if u find the virus in your system. Lee

Another Birthday, Jess! The years seem to get shorter and shorter, don't they? For you, I hope they get better and better as well. And I hope that you enjoy that free falling feeling of having absolutely no formal obligations (no work, no school, no rent, etc.). That's all bound to change quicker than seems possible. We wish you the best of luck in whatever you decide to do next. And we hope that this is a great year for you...Love from all of us...§

Mona - I am with you! I don't necessarily *dream* about Elkins Park or Westboro or West Roxbury or
Montvale Road, but I find myself thinking about those places alot. Maybe it has to do with getting older and reminiscing, or maybe it's because you and I are the ones that "left home". I'm glad I'm not the only crazy one :)

Andrea
Monday, May 20, 2002 at 09:13:56 (PDT)
Wow...Jess is a college grad. Congratulations, Jessamyn. Don't worry, you still have a little while before you need to decide what you want to be when you grow up. In fact, I'm still trying to figure that one out.

Ana and I just got back from Portland. We were down there for the weekend celebrating our friend Anna's 50th birthday. The weather here is not too bad......for mid-March anyway.

Go Red Sox! Go Celtics! Go anywhere, just go.....§

Sue, one of the reasons I was thinking of you is that I remembered that I forgot to inquire after Dick's health when I saw you in September. He looked great, so I guess I had pretty much forgotten that he'd been ill. Hoping all's still well on that front.

You know, when I first moved away from Massachusetts, I used to dream about Montvale Road all the time. Now I dream I'm at some bigger family gathering - in Elkins Park or Westboro, or Gardner Street, like my dream this past week. I miss you all so much.

This weekend at the Pingree household: Betsy is marching in 2 competition parades, one in Bremerton, and one at Viking Fest in our neighboring town of Poulsbo. Paul has a baseball game this afternoon. Miranda is working at her shop (Rave) both days. And tonight is my Jam night with The Overheads, the band I play in. It's always the highlight of my month. 1 or two hours of setting up the equipment, followed my 5 or six hours of sheer play time!

David's out mowing the lawn, which kind of sounds like a drag, but it beats sitting in a rocking chair waiting to feel better!

Love to you all!

Using google I came across your message board and a message regarding Michael Cassily and the web site he maintains of International School Hamburg Alumni. I am looking for several alumni - spent 4+ years at ISH. His sister Helen was in my class. I would greatly appreciate if I could receive the URL and Michael's email address.

It's great to get all these public (and private) affirmations. I also got red roses from someone who takes (and deserves) some credit for these 50 years of motherhood. To all you mothers of young children and middle-sized children and (especially) teen-aged children, being a mother gets easier and easier as you (and they) get older, so hang in there. I love having grown-up children (and grand-children, and now with Cameron, a new generation). Thanks for all the love.

Let me be the first to wish Happy Mother's Day to all of the Mom's out there in Stylosland! Especially to my Mom. Thanks for making me, Mom!!! I'm up late making fudge for the mother of my children. Who'd a thunk?

On behalf of all of Seattle, I want to apologize to Boston for the way that those mean Mariners have been treating the Red Sox. Tim, Ana and I are going to go see Pedro tomorrow, so I would think your luck will change.

I hope that the weather everywhere is beautiful as it is supposed to be here...§

Actually, it was only slightly cozy, and an amazing adventure...especially Yugoslavia - the border crossing, and then the near miss in the tunnel (thanks, Doug, for your cool head and quick thinking - kind of like when you got us over the border - w/ Anita singled out and already on the other side, and one headlight down). Favorite memories from that trip include the smell in the air, driving through the olive groves. And the Gyros for 1 Drachma. And the roasted corn and the lemonade. And the statue of Athena. And Delphi, and Corinthos. And the temple of Poseidon, w/ Phillip eating squid, and finding the ink sack still attached!

Thanks for prompint my memory, Mark.

I'm home w/ Paul today, who's been sick for a couple of days. I sure do wish I could be home more -- the place actually starts to get cleaner, the longer I'm here!

Just last night I, too, was remembering trips to Greece long gone by. Driving down in the VW mini-bus – Dad, Mom, Steve, Mona, Athena, Anita, Doug, Philip and myself – eating souvlaki by the Agora, climbing around the Parthenon, and much more. We may not have had the help of the local relatives, but we still did pretty good: Chalk up another one to that now infamous tour guide Paniotis.
On the home front, I have now moved from my Winter Palace to my new summer digs, about 500 yards away, on the other side of the park, and closer to the beach – about 50 yards. A bit smaller, but we have a terrace and access to the rest of the yard, not to mention friends for neighbors: it promises to be an interesting summer!
We still are not 100% sure of the summer plans, but we are leaning towards a 4 week trip stateside in July. If anyone knows of any reason that August may be better, let me know.

Enjoyed the photos from Greece. Reminded us of our trip to Delphi- what a magical place- and Filippaioi. Wondered how Uncle Christos is doing? I heard that Amalia died in the winter of 1993. We had visited them in the village for a few days during Fall of 1992 with our kids. She was really taken with our son Leo and called him her Bebe. What great memories.

We are experiencing very usual weather. Drought`conditions- no rain in over sixty days- Southeast Alaska is a rain forest. It's been cold, dry and windy. Here it is May and the trees still haven't budded out yet. Very strange.

Hope all is well with you folks. Paul Helmar

It seems like only yesterday that you were three, but it seems like you have been 21 for a few years now. How is that possible. It was great to have you in Seattle when you were still a minor. To whom it may concern:

Tonight when Jeff is taken down for regular maintenance, all appropriate hardware and software components will be upgraded to the new version 21. The new version will be fully backwards compatible with the old version 20, brings improved performance and reliability, and addresses all issues raised with version 20.

If you experience problems with this new version, please send a bug report to BirthdayBoy@Stylos.net.

Jessamyn ~ try Ripple. (the song). I transpose it from G to C and it works good with my range (mezzo soprano). Even Yaya liked that song! I'll try to remember to email you. Lyrics and chords can be found on rukind.com.

Melissa Many more happy birthdays from me too! How wonderful to have a spring birthday!

Alex, I believe has 41 spankings coming to him.

The weather is fantastic here today - I stayed out till 1AM last night (this morning) playing with my band and feel totally revitalized after another hellish week at work. Paul had a great hit in his baseball game yesterday, and was beaming about it the rest of the day. Betsy's taken up track and is getting buff. Miranda is looking forward to graduation on June 8. And David's out mowing the lawn! Yay!!

Happy Birthday, to Alex and Melissa. Sounds like everyone is having fun all over the world. It's a pretty low key weekend here in Seattle. Hi everyone,

I’m having a great birthday over here in Worthington. It's a cold, rainy, dreary day, but the loving messages from you all keep me warm. (And my sweater helps too.)

Jeff came to Worthington yesterday and brought some good DVDs. We’ve been fixing Joey’s computer. (We got it working, but had to reformat the hard drive. Sorry about all those mp3s Joe!)

Pam made me some wonderful blueberry muffins for breakfast, and we're going to have marble cake tonight.

Thanks all of the birthday songs. It's nice to be celebrated around the world :-)

Love you all,

Melissa (and Jeff, who transcribed (and might have changed a word here or there))

Yes, Buddy is taking very good care of us. Not surprisingly, all the relatives and friends treated him, and us, with great warmth. It was fun listening to him talking and laughing with the relatives for hours. He even got loud and vociferous like a true greek; but defending America and Bush, of all things. Can you imagine. He must have been in an arguing mood, seeing how he usually takes the other side of that one.

I would love to think that I could really learn greek and spend some time here at some point, but I don't like the feeling of really standing out. A school child came up to me yesterday and said out of the blue "hallo, what ees your name". Told him it was Ahileas.

Now we are into the tourist part of the trip; ruins and islands.

Love to all. Joe and I will be back in MA Wednesday.

It is wonderful to read so much news here, even if I am not making any myself. It seems like the boys in Greece and the boys in France all had (and are having) a great time. First to Paul, in case he finds another cyber-cafe: Athena cut the grass with the riding mower and thought it was great fun. I'll take a picture of the white azaleas, which are really outdoing themselves.

Good job, Jessamyn, and good luck with that final sprint. I can hear a sigh of relief coming down from Vermont, and another from the direction of Massachusetts.

Athena and I are off to the town library, where one of us will read poems at the "open mike" to celebrate Poetry Month. AKS flies out tomorrow morning; my loss will be Northampton's gain. We'ver had a great time together.

Keep those messages coming, everybody. They're all appreciated. And to Paul, Scott and Joey: squeeze the most out of the opportunity to walk the hills of the "old country" and to eat the kind of food that "Ma used to make."

Water turned on fine, apple tree blew down in the night (luckily we were not parked under it due to karmic carelessness of neighbors who had blocked the driveway, thinking we would never come after midnight on a sunday night) i left the chainsawing of it for you, dad! we did a few chores and ate smores last night (mom only had a bite, and there was no joe to compete with eating them) everything good here, had a fun and successful time at the ky book fair. Hello all,
against all odds I am officially graduating! For all in the area (that means you Scott) I am having a concert at the college playing some folk tunes at six o'clock next Tuesday small and informal but c'mon up if you can.- and Scott you should bring and instrument or two and play up there with me. All the tunes are pretty easy so it shouldn't take long to work it out and I'd love it. Yaya- I'll play extra loud so if you listen close maybe you'll catch it. Or maybe after I graduate I'll come down and live with you as your personal minstrel (am I kidding?) much love to all

Back at the internet cafe again. Dad wanted to check the sports scores again. Only 2 euros per hour. Good deal. Beautiful weather here, looking out over the Aegean sea. Where did I put that sun screen?

Sure wish I spoke greek. Dad talks and talks with the cousins and throws us a tidbid in english once every 15 minutes.

I have to post this quick before Dad and Giota beat me on the other side side of the desk. I'm sure we'll be back online soon.

We made it home, but about four hours later than expected. Our plane had mechanical difficulties (prior to takeoff) so we had to change planes in Amsterdam before we even got off the ground. All in all it was a great trip. We're pretty tired, so that's it for now.

Wow. Greece. Just like I always pictured it. Beautiful countryside, crowded cities with lots of people and lots of motor scooters. Joey is in his element. At the moment he is off somewhere with Giota visiting people, none of whom speak english. He's such a good sport; he fits right in.

Athena was right, the hospitality is tremendous. Haven't met anyone who speaks english, butI keep saying calli mera, ne, and efharisto, and they keep putting food in fromt of me.

So far we have worked our way up from Athens to Thessaloniki; I think Dad plans to head to Grevena next, then on ttowards the islands before returning to Athens.

I guess Paula is now the only sib who hasn't been to Greece. Hope you get a chance to make it here sometime!

Awwww, it's so nice to be wanted. I'm lucky if I can find 2 free days back to back anymore, let alone the $$ for vacation. Not in this stage of my life.

Paul played a concert with his Honor Band this weekend, as well as starting up the Little League season. Betsy has joined track and is stretching and running and getting tanned every day. Miranda is gearing up from Senior Prom. Oh yeah, and graduation, I guess. David has settled into his new job (his company folded the end of February, and he's been transitioning into the same job at a different company). And he's recovering quite well from his knee surgery.

I'm just trying to keep up with it all - got the taxed done in time and may soon have the chance to catch my breath.

Safe travels to all on the road.

Steven and Ana should just be boarding the first leg of their flight back to Seattle. As usual, great to have them over, and glad that the tradition was not broken. Do tell, Scott, how is the first visit to Europe in 28 years? Have an Ouzo for me! I guess it must be Mona that has now gone the longest without going to Europe - any plans?

Our stay in Antibes is quickly coming to a close. It was a very nice trip, but this one seemed way too short. We have had some very nice weather, although we saw rain a few times. Today was warm enough that the kids spent about an hour in the Sea. Steve managed to go in up to about his ankles. It's always sad to leave, but nice to know that we will be coming back before too long. We hope that spring has sprung for everyone in Stylosville....§

In one minute, Scott and Joe should be in the air, on their way to Athens, by way of London. Mark delivered them to Logan airport. All systems go. Have I already mentioned that I wish I was going too?

Ihad a very difficult time finding an open internet cafe. however persistance finally paid off. Scott i rented a car for nine days starting sat. the cost is 360 euros but we can return it earlier. the cost is about 250 for 7 days. the hotel is 60 euros for a room with shower which has a double bed aand a single bed. We can stay at a cheaper place for 42 euros and that is at the Phadra. but shaared bath and toilet with all rooms on same floor. If none of this sounds good to you we can adjust when you get here. I will meet you at the airport on sunday morning about 4:00 am. All for now

We had a very nice day with Vanessa and Jerome. We went to the beach and went swimming in the swimming pool. Jerome and Vanessa had the day off of school. On Friday, Ana is going to go to school with them. Mark has Friday off, so Steve and Mark will try not to get too bored while the kids are off at school. Things are very nice here and we are glad we came. Hope everything is well with everyone wherever you are. Andrea's post about Mexico reminded me of bringing Ana to Mazatlan when she was six months old. I have never been to a place where they appreciate children more, don't you think, Andy and Vinnie? We'll be here to mid-morning Monday. Tomorrow we will do our gift shopping in Antibes. Tootles...§

Another travel update: We just returned from Puerto Villarta Mexico. Although it wasn't the most relaxing vacation (chasing a 14 month old) it was absolutely beautiful. The food was amazing...cooked by the staff at the villa, the weather was perfect and Sophie loved the ocean. She would run full speed into the water as soon as we let her down! Our next trip will be to Fairhaven the second week of July, so I look forward to seeing many of you then.

What rambling siblings I have. Off to Greece, the Riviera, North Carolina. Sounds like we should follow the call of the road, what do you say Mona? (I know you can't join us Mark, as you have company). Please let me travel with you all, at least electronically. Happy trails!

Steve: Thanks for keeping us informed on your progress. It means a lot! While I don't envy you the jet-lag, I would like to be there in Nice, awaiting your arrival. Maybe you can lie on the sands of the Mediterranean and recuperate from the long flight. Enjoy your week!

We are happily anticipating Athena's midnight arrival. To observe "Marathon Day" I have a jig-saw puzzle with a picture of the start of the marathon on it, on the dining room table.

We are in Amsterdam, at a cyber cafe. So far so good. We're both a bit tired, no sleep last night and the nine hour time change in nine hours always gets to us. We have a few more hours in Amsterdam before we head to France. More later....§

Well, the house is clean, the laundry is almost done and we are almost packed....Unfortunately, I need to go in to my office in the morning before the airport to pickup the battery to my laptop. Then its eight days with Mark and family. We can't wait.

It's been awful quiet on the old message board lately. Hope everyone is too busy having too much fun, as opposed to too busy doing too much spring cleaning...

We'll post from France....§

We had a small birthday party for Cameron yesterday - nothing too fancy - mostly family - he seemed to have a good time. His big present was a sandbox - put together by Joey.

Otherwise all is quiet out here in the sticks. I have a cold. Joey and I are still trying to learn a few key phrases in Greek. Joey starts a new job at the golf course tomorrow.

Love the extra hour of daylight in the evening!

Well a welcome to you, Pam, and the happiest of birthdays to young Mr. Cameron. I remember a quite a bit of my third birthday. Of course I was away from home, because brother Scott (that would be Father Scott or Grandfather Scott to some of you) was busy being born. I hope Cameron's birthday is a memorable as mine was. Cheers....§

Pam is in Salem for the night, but I will have her check the messageboard when she gets home. Me and Joey and Cameron are hanging out here at the old apt.

At the end of the month the upstairs apt. is going to be available. The current plan is for me to move up there, and Pam and Cam to keep the downstairs.

Lake Williams? Where's that?

Happy Birthday, Pam...Let's see, this would be 26 for you wouldn't it? Hopefully you'll be way too busy having fun to check to see if there are messages on this board for you. Actually, my last message has been up for so long that we will have to call it the Message Bored. I know it is going to be a great year for both you and Cameron....§
