I see I left out a word: I meant to say it was a GOOD week being with family. But you probably already know that. . .

Thanks from us, too. We just got home from the airpot in Greenville. The return trip went well except for having a flat tire on the plane as we started to leave Philadephia for the second half of the flight. That delayed us a while. Then the van that was to meet us in Greenville had given up so that delayed us a little more. Now we're home (7:30) and I'm hungry! Whatever happened to airline food?
It was a week being with family and we were lucky not to see one of those snow storms that Boston is famous for. Love you all.

Thanks to all for such a lovely Christmas in Boston. We are home in Seattle safe and sound, after a long, late night walk through NYC including sushi and tempura in Times Square. They are already preparing Times Square for New Year's Eve, it would be an exciting place to be. For the record, it is colder and sunnier in Seattle than it was when we left NY this morning....§

And I send my thanks and gratitude to/for all those who sent presents and/or messages, and for all those who didn't...I love you all.

We're just finishing Christmas dinner, graced by our Miranda's presence and fine vittles. Now if I can find someone to help with the cleanup I'll be in business. :)

And mostly, truly, my wish is for Peace on Earth, Good Will Toward Men.

And Women.

And Children.

Hi All, We are in a hotel in Seattle. The flight we wanted to get out on tonight was full so we don't know when we will be arriving in Boston. So Paula and Mark - don't wait up, we'll get there when we get there. There sure are lots of people at the airport, it's going to be a good holiday season for all of those seasonal vendors. Stuck or not, it feels good to be on the road again. We'll keep you posted....

A sincere and gracious Thank You all for your birthday wishes. I did have to work today, but now I'm home and TGIF. I had goodies waiting for me at home from the kids. Well, Hello, and Merry Christmas! I see your family is busily engaged in planning a big do at Paula's. I still peek through the windows occasionally....I hope the weather is kind to you all, but knowing the Stylos resolve, everyone will probably build sleighs or something and just go ahead with plans. Anyway, it sounds wonderful. Ramona, after I got a new computer, your e-mail address vanished along with many others. What is it, please?
Safe and happy times to you all!

I'll take you up on it, too, Mom. I'm in San Francisco for one more night, then back to Seattle for a week, then on to Boston. It's been a very nice trip. I ran into a friend of Ken Schwartz at the conference today. We reminisced about Ken. I have news about the Schwartz family which I will share by email when I get back to Seattle. Paula and Mark, this really is one of the world's great cities. I think it would be great if you moved here. See everyone soon....
Steve
Thursday, December 11, 2003 at 22:57:19 (PST)
Ok, Ramona. I'll take you up on that.

Our news is that we have moved into a new house in Ashburn, VA. We will never be moving again! What a hassle. Vinnie says it must be like childbirth... after a few years you forget how painful it is. Easy for him to say. So we are finally (almost) settled back east. It's wonderful being close to family and old friends. We will surely be vacationing in CO each year. We miss it so!

Love from me.

Sunday, December 07, 2003 at 09:44:34 (PST)
Wow. Sure is a lot of snow. We have not even ventured out to start shoveling, as the heavy snow just keeps on coming. I just measured 16 inches on the front porch, but with all the wind I do not know how accurate that is. They certainly haven't plowed Agawam in a long time, eight or so inches there. But we have fire wood, food and Christmas cards to write, so we are just fine. How about the rest of you?
Paula

Good luck, all you New Englanders, who are about to get hit by a big snow storm. I hope you have firewood, milk and bread and reading material, as well as a shovel! We got 2 or 3 inches of snow yesterday; they're doue to get more in the higher mountains (around Yancey County and Mr. Mitchell) this weekend. I'm ready for spring and winter hasn't even begun!

I was sorry to hear last week that Bernie Friedman passed away. Our thoughts and sympathies to the entire family. I am sure the Scott Stylos family are having a fun time in Pittsburgh. Jeff, could you send me the link to the application you put developed?

Ana and I are still trying to finalize our Christmas plans. We are tentatively planning to come east, but plane tickets are much more expensive than at any time in the past three years or so. I suppose a sign of a revitalizing ecomony. I have finished my Christmas shopping, and I can tell you that the stores seem much more crowded than they did last year. Probably a good time to invest in retail stocks. If we do come east, it will probably be from the 20th until the 28th.

Not much new from here, other than the fact that it has been cold, dark and damp. More later...§

Just a little snow, in the last hour of the drive to Pittsburgh. Hasn't melted yet though.

Nice visit so far, hanging out at Jeff's apt., and playing foosball and pool and ping pong here at CMU. Jeff doesn't have a phone or internet at home, so I'm taking advantage of this computer at his school.

We'll stay here until the weekend, then drive back.

I'll be in Mass for xmas holidays. Looking forward to seeing at least some of you then.

No intrusion at all! I'm sure I speak for my siblings when I say "the more the merrier". I'm glad you're getting the chance to visit with your daughters.

We're in the middle of our annual November deluge here, but for those of you in sunnier climes, you should check out the evening skies the next few days: the Leonid meteor shower is taking place.

I hesitate to intrude upon your delightful family board, but since the head Mom invited me...
Yes, today is the 76 anniversary of my birth one frosty morn way down yonder in the land of cotton....old times there are not forgotten....in Dixie Land. I do remember all the old times for sure. Such a delightful childhood. The '30's and '40's were such good years.
Mona, thank you so much for remembering. You are my favorite child of a favorite mom. We are leaving Monday morning for a visit to Ohio to my daughter Laura's home. Rebecca will spend all of Wednesday up there with us, getting to know some more of her extended family while giving our children an opportunity to know her.
If any of the Stylos Clan are ever on the Gulf Coast, be sure to come by, and you are welcome to make your hq here should you be coming to visit the coast. If we run out of beds, we will run to Walmart and buy an air mattress or something......I must warn you tho.......I am a night ow.;))

Yes, Welcome Cuz! Ana and I made it back to Seattle without a hitch. I had a very nice trip, I can't say the same for Ana, who was on Paula's couch for the entire visit with a fever. She missed a day of school when we got back, but she went today. We are still trying to figure out Christmas plans. Where will everyone else be? §

Hey!! No fair! Paula gets to correct her own mistakes, while the rest of us just have to leave them hanging out here for all to see! LOL! For a minute there I thought maybe Ana was gaining on Miranda!

Miranda's news is that she moved into her own apartment this week, and is now keeping busy with decorating it. And working 2 jobs. I'm on my way out to meet her now, and to see what we can find at Pier One Imports....wish I still had my employee discount there!

It's party time for me tonight, then up reasonable early tomorrow to go to the airport to pick up Jeffrey who will be on his way to Vancouver. This day always make me think of Jerry and the rest of my family. Hard to beleive he has been gone for 2/3 of my life. I felt so old and mature then. I guess that makes me pretty ancient now. §

Happy halloween everybody! Should be a great night for trick or treaters around here. After that I'm going to a party (in caveman costume).

Have fun Jeff, in Seattle and Vancouver this coming week. Thanks Steve for helping him on his way.

I have an invitation to a pathology conference on breast cancer, in Waltham - one of the speakers is a lawyer - Charles Reidy, Esq. - don't we know him?

Fall fell yesterday with a vengence. After the driest summer on record, Seattle made up for it yesterday with the rainiest day on record: 5.02 inches! Everything is a bit soggy today, but who needs a snow pack when you can fill the reservoirs up with rainwater. Ana and I are looking forward to being in Boston in two and a half weeks. Sixth grade seems to be agreeing with her. Still haven't finalized spring break plans and we need to do that soon. Not much else new on this end...§

We (Paul, Rex and I) are back from the cabin. Athena and a couple of friends stayed on for another couple of days. It is quite cold up on the side of that mountain and we went through a lot of firewood. (Thanks to all those who helped cut the wood and fill the wood shed.)
And thanks to those of you who found all kinds of ways to ensure that I had a great birthday on the 16th. It was an occasion to remember.

Pedro? Why, is it his birthday, too? No, only kidding, I know what's going on, and I know what will probably change our plans for going to the cabin today. But that's OK. None of us (not even Athena) is pressed for time.

I has been a great birthday so far (and it's not even noon yet!) Rex and I went down to the Essence of Thyme for an early morning coffee and scones. Then I met my Thursday morning friends for a half-hour of meditation, then on to half-price day at the Friends of the Library annual book-sale. When I got back Paul, Rex and Athena had put the house back like it was before last night's great party and there were greetings of all sorts waiting for me, so what more could I ask?
Oh yes, and we're having some of "October's bright blue weather." Life is good.

Yes, a very successful garage sale. Why, you could fit a Miata, a canoe, and two motorcycles in the garage if you wanted to!
I will not be fortunate to spend my favorite mother's birthday with her,a d will have to use Scott's approach and raise a glass to her by myself.

Leaves are only just beginning to change.

And, what about those Red Sox?

That Ping, knows how to call 'em.
Mark
Monday, October 06, 2003 at 20:31:10 (PDT)
Well, Ping assured me they'd win 3 straight, so we'll see...

Paul finished up his fall baseball league today - so he and David and Betsy missed the exciting finish. In Babe Ruth baseball the basepad is as big as the majors - 90 feet between bases. Takes a bit of getting used to, to say the least. The kids think they can steal a bag easy...then get halfway there and go - uh oh!

Are the leaves turning in New England yet? Did you have much business at your yard sale?

Anyway, the hug was because I understand the Sox lost again, and that will have to make for some grumpy, sleep deprived Red Sox fans.
