I am happy to announce the arrival of Jeffrey. Now that he is here safe and sound, I am off to San Francisco for a day or two. I'm sure that Lucky will appreciate the company. Things have been very quiet around here with no Ana, no Mark and no Jerome. I'm sure that Jeffrey will liven things up a bit. I hope everyone is enjoying this early fall. §

I am so proud of you Sophie. I believe the chilcren will cherish this school year for the rest of their lives. As for the rest of you. If i lived another 80 years and thanked you one and all for the greatest birthday celebration every day, it would not come close to expressing the gratitude I feel and have felt. I would not change a thing in any one of you. Graciosly panagoitis.

And I am back in Seattle. Ana-less. At least my luggage made it this time. She seems to be well settled into school. It was a great trip to Boston and France, many thanks to all of those who made it possible.
I was actually in NYC when the game started today, but I was too tired to go to it. How often do you end up in the city in September when the Red Sox are playing. Looking at the final score, now I wish I went. But it is nice to get home today instead of tomorrow. §

well i am neither in france nor my ninth decade but i'm checking in to say that i am up here in ashfield at my friend mary's house making free with her computer while she is in new york city and the weather here is crisp and beautiful too. I think this is about the most perfect time of year. Actually i kind of think that about every time of year. But it's so easy to be comfotable (if you're not on the gulf coast right now) and nostalgic in september. Some of the trees are catching their autumnal flames already here in the hills and i for one and glad of the change in seasons.

Autumn seems to be settling in...drier days and cooler nights. The deck men FINALLY arrived, so perhaps by next year our party can be away from the bugs and rain, though they did not seem to slow us down too much this year. To all of you Mosers and Helmars who stop by and do not say anything....let us hear from you! Welcome aboard to Louis. Welcome to the family, Jenna Marie. Good to see you here, Jay. To the our family in France: how are you all? And what about the birthday boy, how is your ninth decade so far?

Greetings from Antibes! Mark and I finally have the internet in our hotel, so we are back in the 20 century. Now to move on to the 21st and catch the rest of you all. I will be here for three more days. Ana is happily settled into school, she just wishes she spoke more French. That will come I am sure.
It's been a nice trip, all around, and the birthday party is Boston was great. I wish I could say I was looking forward to getting home and working again....
I am sure that Ana would love to read any mail that is sent. I will send her address to the family by email, if anyone else wants it, contact me.

I already miss her and I haven't dropped her off yet. Jerome and Vanessa are still working on getting into Ana's school. Classes begin on Monday. We are headed back to France today, and I will be back in the US on Saturday next. Have fun everyone. And thanks to Paula and family for making the birthday party possible. §

I just had a conversation with Al Sharpton in Gautier, MS. They are OK, feeling better, now that they have a generator after 5 days without power. They drove 200 miles to Montgomery, AL to get it (and almost didn't find one). He said they had stayed in their house during Katrina's pass-through, but that he wouldn't do it again. Ann's car got submerged during the downpour. He hasn't seen TV or used his computer since Monday, so he has yet to see the pictures from CNN of the devastation. I'm sure that when he can he will write us all about Katrina and the aftermath.

We will need you're help to make sure everyone is correctly ID.
We stop by my parents house (Peter and Pota) and told them about the day . I hope they will see you soon. For now today's pics will tide them over.

Thanks for the update, Greg and Sue! As for life on the left coast, it goes on. Ana has been in Costa Rica since she got out of camp. She got home yesterday, and says she wants to go back. I asked her if she missed us or was homesick and her response was 'not really'. I guess she must be ready for a year in Europe. We leave Wednesday, should get to Boston Thursday morning. And we will leave there on Tuesday night with Mark, Vanessa and Jerome for France. I hope all of the extended family is planning to come to Paula's on August 28 for Paul's 80th birthday party. HI FAMILY IT HAS BEEN A WHILE SINCE I HAVE WRITTEN. i sold our home and sold our business and have now built a nice condo over jenns garage. i am thrilled with it but it took a year to build. dick is doing just o k at the atrium in quincy. the good thing is he knows all of us and would know any of you too. i can take him out to lunch a few times a week and that is good. he seems to be comfortable at the atrium which is a place for alzheimers and dementia and they take wonderful care of him trying to get him to do what he still can do. which is play cards and play well. he still beats me at our favorite game casino. he adores to get cards so if any of you could send one he sure would remember you. he is at the atrium 2003 falls blvd. quincy ma 02169. as for me i am taking water color classes and have joined some wonderful book clubs. so hi to all and miss you sue

Yes, it has been very quiet in Stylosland. And quiet at my house as well. But that should change today, when the girls arrive home from camp. I feel bad for Vanessa, who will be arriving in Charlotte on Wednesday, since she will apparently have to wait until Thursday to get picked up.
The weather here has been perfect. I hope it has been cooperating for everyone else as well. As for my plans, Ana and I will be traveling standby to NYC on Friday 8/26. We will leave NYC for France late on 8/30. We are looking forward to Dad's party and can't wait to see everyone...§

I can't believe that no one has been heard from in so many days! Guess I'll remedy that: Paul, Mark and Jerome and I have been at the cabin since Saturday. It started raining as soon as we got there and didn't stop! The plans we had for starting to build a garden shed got shelved. I have a book group later this morning in Brevard so I came back early this morning. My fears of finding water in the basement were groundless. Evidently it hasn't rained as much here. We are looking forward to Vanessa's arrival from camp in Orcas, WA on Thursday.

The girls (Vanessa, Ana and Alia) made it successfully to camp, are probably organizing their teepee on a beautiful Northwest evening as we .... er....write. Vanessa's luggage has been found and is now trying to find Canoe Island, that 47 acre private island in the San Juans. She should have it by tomorrow.
It's very quiet here. Peaceful. Empty. One of those special summer nights that makes you glad to be alive. I hope everyone out there in Stylosville is keeping cool and enduring the heat wave that I have been reading about.
For those who would like to write to the girls, they can be reached at Canoe Island French Camp, PO Box 370, Orcas Island, WA 98280. I'm sure that they will be happy to receive mail. I'm equally sure that they will not answer. So, writing will have to be its own reward. §

The good news is that Vanessa made it. And in good spirits, even if a bit tired. The bad news is that the luggage did not. Hopefully it will be here by tomorrow, but it will be the airline's responsibility to get it to her. Good luck. In any case, it is great to see her and she is looking forward to camp. We'll keep you posted on the saga of the luggage. §

Yes, Mom and Dad are back home, too. Mark and Vanessa are out buying things for camp; Jerome and his Grandfather are watching the Red Sox struggle to keep from getting whupped. The 4 days in Berea and with Aunt Evelyn in Ohio, as she celebrated her 90th birthday, were well worth the trip. So glad Paula and Melinda decided to go back as far as Berea with us.

Sounds like fun, Steve and Ana. San Francisco is a great city. Melinda and I have spent a wonderful (and of course a hot and humid) few days in Berea. Dad showed us around the campus, we had a birthday dinner with Rex, visited many shops and enjoyed an international folk festival. Ah, history. Now to head back east.

Greetings from San Francisco. Ana and I had to come down here to apply for her French visa, so we took a few days to enjoy the summer in the city. Tonight we took a cable car to Fisherman's Wharf and had dinner on the water. What a country!

It's true, it's true! What a thrill to see them there, Vanessa's facial expression and Jerome clapping. I wish my DVD had slow motion.

Yes, they're in costumes. Look for the big witch hat, and the wild animal beside her.

You are all going to have to go out right now and rent or buy the new "Funky Monkey" movie. We just saw it and found our own two amazing young actors in the front row of the Halloween Party scene. What talent!

Here is a message from Chambersburg, PA. Dad, Melinda and I had a restful night sleep here (Melinda and I enjoyed the whirlpool) and will soon head on for North Carolina. Jess should be boarding a plane for the same destination is a few hours, and may well beat us there. Then I expect Mark, Vanessa and Jerome to follow a day or two later. We will let the rest of you in on the fun...watch this space!

And here is a message from the Puget Sound Area. Welcome back to the US, Vanessa. We are looking forward to having you back in Seattle on your way to and from camp. Summer is in full swing here, though it is not as warm as the rest of the country. The house is too quiet now that Mark and Jerome are gone, and it will be even quiter when Ana heads back to France to go to school. Good think I like the peace and quiet.
Ana and I had a very nice trip to Portland to see the fireworks on Monday. It looks like we won't make it to the east coast until Dad's party in Acton, then we will go from there to France. We will miss joining in the festivities in North Carolina this summer. But.....we'll be back.
I hope everyone is enjoying the summer....§

Here's a message from the North Carolina mountains, where everything is quiet and calm for the time being. That may change if the predicted heavy rain moves in tomorrow. And it definitely will change when 2 vehicles arrive this weekend with some of the clan (you know who you are). While I'm not looking forward to the rain and thunderstorms, I am looking forward to having family around. Solitude is good, but enough is enough.

They have arrived. After the obligatory cookout, Jessamyn has taken Vanessa and Jerome to the fireworks. Melinda is off to Boston. The men of the house are watching the Red Sox play. I, as usual, am reporting it all.

Well, we are not in the air yet, but should be very soon. We, too, will miss our adopted home in Seattle, but right now I am just looking forward to being somewhere with nothing to do except golf and baseball for a little while. North Carolina's tranquility is sounding good ...

And Mark and Jerome are on the road (well, in the air) again, too. Headed to Newark to meet Dad, then who knows where. It was kind of sad to take them to the airport, I've become accustomed to the positive energy that they filled my house with for all of these months. I'm sure whoever is the next to receive them will appreciate that as well. The remodeling project looks great, and the new room will always be full of memories of those who made it happen, including Mark, Jerome, Dad, Tim and Jeff. I still don't know when I'll be heading east, but it looks like the last week in August. After the eightieth birthday party, Ana and I will head to France so she can start HER next adventure. I hope the summer is progressing well for all of you out there in Stylosville. §

Paul is on the road again, this time in the Vanagon, and last heard from in Virginia. He will meet Mark and Jerome in Newark tonight and probably spend Saturday in Noho, before meeting Vanessa's plane in NY on Sunday. From that point, I'm not sure. You'll have to hear it from them. Have a happy and safe Fourth of July weekend, everybody.
